Reduce image size with quality and dimensions

JPG and WebP can reduce file size through lossy encoding. Lower quality often saves more bytes but can introduce visible artifacts. Reducing width also reduces the number of pixels while preserving the aspect ratio. Images smaller than the chosen maximum width are not enlarged.

Which format should I choose?

JPG works well for photographs and replaces transparent areas with white. WebP can retain transparency. PNG uses lossless encoding and ignores the quality setting; it may remain large unless dimensions are reduced. Availability and output quality depend on the browser’s encoder.

Compression is not a guaranteed percentage

A small or already optimized source can become larger after re-encoding. The result explicitly shows increases as well as reductions. Compare the preview and file sizes; keep the original if the output is worse. This tool does not promise a target file size.

Supported images and limits

Choose one JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 20 MB, 16 megapixels, and 8192 pixels on either side. Output is a still image; animation and original metadata are not preserved. Browser decoding may change color-profile handling. Files are processed in memory and never uploaded by the tool.
